the India-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya state.

picturesque village in the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya state, India. It is
known for it's cleanliness. This village has won accolade for being the
cleanest village in Asia in 2003 as well as the Cleanest Village in India in
2005. People residing here take active participation in keeping the village
neat and clean. Natives of this village are mainly Khasi tribe, the famous
tribe which has left behind the patriarchal rule of the society. So, children
of the family get their mother’s surname and the wealth is passed down from the
mother to the youngest daughter of the family. Even the literacy rate is 100%
which is quite impressive.
